Chateau de Buron

Originally built in the IXth century and enlarged in the XIIIth century, this square fort flanked by 4 large towers was destroyed by fire during the 13th century, Legend has it that one day the Lord, a robber of the worst kind nicknamed Le Garou, who attacked the monastery village, massacring all the monks, plundering their wealth. A violent thunderstorm broke out, a fire reduced the castle to ashes. The fortress was never rebuilt and the Garou disappeared forever.
