Chateau de Cabrerolles

The tower of Cabrerolles is first mentioned in 980 then developed up till the XIIth century into the chateau fort it is today, the first seigneur mentioned at that time is Atracerius de Cabrairol At the top of the site is a Fortified Church pitched on its own rock for defence.

The war of religions (Les guerres de religion) is fatal for the castle, In 1569, the baron de Faugeres, commands that the chapel be destroyed, The end of the castle happened definatley before 1630, after the campaign of Richelieu for the eradication of fortes féodales the Chapel was saved and restored in the XVIIth, the castle is not currently on the french list of monuments historiques.
